Jyoti Basu......... Lamp of Bengal, light of nation

" Jyotibabu was a political giant of our age who left an indelible mark on his state. Steered Communism to responsible governance."
" To many Bengalis he was "Banglar Jyoti, Desher Aalo". (Lamp of Bengal, light of nation). Kerala has fond memories of his visits."

Jyoti Basu .... A great leader

While commenting on the life of such a great personality someone should be qualified enough. Neither i am his contemporary nor i have a good political knowledge to comment.

Yesterday after hearing the news of his death I was moved by the reaction of the people of West Bengal as well as India. The heartbeat of 8 Crore people might have stopped for few seconds. Lots of questions started peeping into my mind.

How much greatness is needed to rule a state like West Bengal democratically for 24 years without any scam? If we take example of any Chief minister of any other states of India we can see they have multiplied their wealth in proportion with their duration & involved in so many scams. Very rarely any one them are able to be elected for two consecutive periods. He was not only a leader but the heartthrob of his fellow citizens with his idealism & virtue.

Why didn't a person with one of the best qualifications in the world go after monetary success? But he had chosen the path of political hardship to serve his country & to bring the desired change in the society?

The list of questions will grow further. As usual being in the google era i wanted to google out informations about him. But i have not found the complete informations in one site but scattered among many places. That's why i am trying to collate all the informations about him in one place to satisfy the quench of people like me.

Being a people's leader, about his life can be best known through the heart of the people he served. I have invited the people around me to share their feelings to educate us.

Please feel free to add your comments. It can be suggestions, objections, informations. Whatever it is, we will take it into account.
